People, especially the youth, want to know how it all begun.
Once the success is achieved, everybody cheers for it. However, the steps to reach it, the fights, the disillusions, the bravery, the resolution and, obviously, the creative spark of a life of work, deserve to be known.
In the coming years, Marconi will be remembered as the pioneer who threw the world into a new era. Thanks to Marconi, space and time are no longer a barrier among people.
The human aspects of his invention were something my father really cared about. He was convinced that he was able to create the most efficient means to put an end to the loneliness, to reduce the risks and most of all, to help people feeling closer to each other.
A considerable tribute to all this has been offered by my sister Gioia, who founded the Marconi International Fellowship, a living monument to my father’s memory: every year a prize is awarded to a scientist engaged in the employment of Marconi’s inventions for the improvement of human conditions.
